I have just been onto the Opie oil web site to order some oil for my Discovery & when I put in our club discount code I was advised the code applied only to certain products and didn't apply to my purchases . Anyone else come across this?

Yeah, I phoned an order through a while back and got a "nah mate". I wasn't that bothered because it was already cheep. But it did feel like a bit of a "here's what you could have won" type moment.

Smith and Allen don't do that - I've ordered all sorts of oils off them without a problem. Not seen this with Opie before though - has something changed?

We'd better find out what actually is covered by our discount or we'll be wasting our time.

Let's hope Paddocks don't start this game - it's quite useful that discount!

I also note that Exmoor Trim are not on the Series 2 members discount page anymore. I was sure they did 5% discount.

My neighbours use opie for heating oil. I've had nothing but unhelpful treatment when I tried them and my partner, when she contacted them found herself talking to a misogynist. I won't go near them, bought my oils from Rye.

I've dropped out Advertising manager an email to see if some clarification on these discounts needs applying to the discount webpage.

Just following up on this one, I had the same when trying to buy a load of 15/40 for the defender. OK, it's not the right grade for the S2, so perhaps understandable.

Tried it again with some Millers mineral 20/50 in there and it still wouldn't accept it, "Only applicable to certain products". If bog standard 20/50 mineral isn't applicale to a S2 then not sure what is.

Still cheaper without the discount than most other places anyway, so not a big issue, just a shame they have a drop down of 100's of web-based car forums and we're not in there !

I've just ordered some Bilt Hamber products from Opie (discount code didn't work for me either) but I did find "The Series 2 Club Forum"  in the very long drop down list - it took some scrolling on a phone screen to find it!

Hi All, Regarding Opie. I spoke to them again about their discount. We used to get a discount but recently they dropped that because of the increased cost of living and other economic factors. They said if anyone made a large order they could have a discount that depended on the size of the order. We are talking proper barrel sized orders of oil here. I recommend you look around. If it is oil you are after, sign up to the Halfords club free membership and you often get 10% off and when the sales are on, you also additional 5%, 10% discounts on top. I have often buy axle, gear box and engine oil when they have these multiple discounts on. It is worth it.

Exmoor Trim stopped doing a proper discount for us a while ago but did say they could offer 5% off when we call and ask. They explained that their margins are quite tight now.

I take it Smith & Allen still offer a discount?

The trouble is that I've found frequently that it's cheaper to buy from their eBay shop than direct with discount.  :confused  :thud

I got the discount when using Smith and Allen a few weeks ago. Good and friendly service, didn't know about their eBay shop though. That could be a top tip.
