Good afternoon everyone,

I am investing in some security for my 2A. I have bought a tyre clamp and also a pedal bar lock.

I am also looking at GPS tracking systems. I just wanted to see if anyone here had any previous experience with this technology and had any advice?

Cheers and best regards 👍

I've got a Skytag. It's not over sophisticated but it's £7.99 a month with free service and monthly updates and warnings if the battery is disconnected and it will locate the vehicle.

All these gismos are great if you are dealing with an opportunist thief.
Someone more organised will use a GPS & SMS signal blocker, readily available via ebay.

Whilst it's blocking, the vehicle is driven away, then searched for the device. Not many places to hide it.
It's just ripped out and discarded - often then found in laybys and farn tracks.

Use physical deterrants first, then if you want to use a tracking system, go ahead.

There is another thread on the forum, discussing this very thing

I use a Disclok and Clutch Claw.

...not forgetting the Bulldog Centaur 2500 wheel clamp when parked on the drive.

I use an Apple Air Tag ...

Useful if I forget where I've parked, Google Maps leads me right to it.

GPS/trackers can easily be defeated by proper thieves.

Best version I've seen I think is a tracker built to look like a relay. Sure it can be defeated by jamming but it'll take time to find. I'd assume a thief would be reluctant to start ripping wires and relays out of a vehicle they might be intending to drive away.

Pretty much all trackers use the same software repackaged with pretty labels, it doesn't matter.

Only thing I'd say is make sure you get one using 4G as some of the cheaper companies are still selling 2G devices.
2G will be switched off in a few years and you will have bought a brick.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am going to do some more research.
