recently  done a chassis swap and at the same time swapped the 2.5d sherpa lump for an ex military 2.5d,and fitted a new clutch,a lof 9 1/2 inch road spec.
so fired it up today for the first time tried to put it in gear and it won't engage, turned the engine off put it in reverse started her up went back and stalled, tried the same again in 1st and nothing, now have i fitted the wrong clutch or is there something else i'm missing, done all the red lever stuff and bleed the hydraulics, the sherpa lump had a defender clutch and not a 2a which strangely worked fine.
pictures off old clutch and gearbox when first dismantled.

Should the pressure plate have a steel ring in its centre? Is your clutch pedal going to the floor before pressing on the pressure plate? Or is the pedal going rock hard before hitting the floor?

That looks like a S3 clutch cover.
You need a 2/2A one.

hi Rangieman, yes the new clutch has, that's a pic off the old one, the pedal goes down and goes hard but doesn't hit the floor.

I once had hydraulic lock on my clutch pedal - similar symptom. Try releasing the bleed nipple - mine exploded with fluid but clutch OK after.

Hi Tim,sounds fesable, will try it on Wednesday when i get my next chance to play, thanks.

Definitely the wrong clutch cover it needs to be like this , a 2a type, with a thrust plate in the centre , to match the release mechanism :-

Hi Autorover that's what it has got now, thats a pic of what it did have, thanks.

Quick hydraulic check: you can disconnect the bellcrank from the slave cylinder and have someone press the pedal gently (so as not to blow out the piston!) and see how well it moves and if it retracts. Is the plate in the right way, "to engine" on the engine side? I don't know if you can even re-assemble the cover if it's in wrong, though?

Thanks Timv, thats done the trick, now have a working clutch :RHD
