I'm gonna need new seats. Little chance of having more than one passenger, so I'm thinking cubby between the seats. Obviously a padded top / armrest, but what to put in it?  Radio /CD?  Want to keep the dash original and clean.
I've mentioned this height issue before, (6'3") so seats suppliers with thinner backs? Thoughts?

I bought a set of the Brit part seats, not bad, but not great... the MDF is a bit floppy, and the foam is a bit soft and I sank through it to be sat on the board... which gave an annoying seating position. (15 stone) I too am on the taller side, I took the seat back apart, and cut the foam in half to reduce its thickness. I guess 40-45mm reduction, it's an easy job to staple it back together after. Anyway, the seating position is definitely better post chop.
I have since changed the seat foam for a denser foam too.
I have started to make a set  of seats from scratch now, thicker ply base, firmer foam, leather.
I've no experience of the proper, original unicorn hair and spring seats, but I'd imagine they are pukka if in good condition.

I wouldn't bother with a Radio/CD, fitting it is quite easy, but where do the speakers go? I fitted one, and then never used it!

I use my cubby for maps, drinks, camera, binoculars and it has the CB attached to it.

Jessie. For the tunes, maybe just run a Bluetooth speaker. I just stick mine on the dash when I fancy some music or a podcast whilst I'm driving.

I think Jessie might be the name of the Land Rover. 😉

You plan to sell these seats?  I'd be interested.

Hi.

No plans to sell them, happy to share all the drawings and foam supplier details if you like though? I'm not sure a complete one off set is at all necessary, but I like to tinker and experiment.
The firmer foam I stuck in the Brit part seats was a revelation. So easy to do and so much nicer.

Adam, if you look in the workshop manual somewhere it explains about raising the front of the seat base using rubber blocks to cater for folk with longer legs.  I have a variation on this and the front of my bases have been raised by 50mm, It makes it much more comfortable though I did have to adjust the angle of the accelerator pedal

Thanks Peter, I did wonder about lifting it all slightly, I'll give it a go tonight.
What did you do exactly to the accelerator pedal? I've been pondering modifying that for a while to sit at a more relaxed angle, did you go for flatter and lower? And trim the curved stop down to maintain throw?
