Calling Dormobile owners...

Would anybody be able to give me the overall height of a Dormobile with the roof down and stowed?

Secondly, if the optional front roof rack is fitted, does it sit higher than the stowed roof. If so, can I have the overall height with the roof rack fitted?

Thanking you muchly.

   Hi Diffwhine

My 62 is 7 feet 3 inches to the top of the vent on good rebuilt original style springs.
The 69 Nada has 3 leaf Rocky mountain parabolics on the rear (2 leaf in front) and sits 7 feet 4 inches.

When I originally brought the 62 home (my dads) it had been sitting for over 10 years I measured the height in his garage and and thought good it will fit in the garage with a inch to spare.
I drove it home and it had gone up 2 inches in height. :thud  I had to drain air out of the tires and then modify the door header.

  Sorry no roof rack.

HEre's the advertisement from the day: K = 84 inches

Mine has HD 9-leaf springs in back and Latitude Cross 7.5" tires and I just measured 83" (211 cm) to the top of the vent.

I have the roof rack made by Jabbawocky (Mich Outhwaite) and the folding roof is higher than the rack is. The original rack isn't even as high as Mick's rack.

  Hi Guys

The 62 has original style springs but they were rearched as high as I could get them to go and still use original shocks.
The 69 has extended shocks designed specifically for parabolics, so they have a bit more reach.
The 62 has 235x85 tires which measure 32 inches.
  The 69 has 7.50 x 16 tires which measure 31.5 inches

Thanks all. This is a great help.
I'm looking at shipping a Dormobile back to the UK from Africa around Easter next year. The issue is whether or not to refit the original front roof rack and potentially it's storage box as I need to get dimensions for the shipping agent.

Looks like we can fit the roof rack and it won't change the overall height. I haven't seen the storage box which goes into the roof rack yet, but if the rack is fitted and the box is too high, there will be space inside for the box.

At least I know it will all fit in a standard container with some additional space for some other stuff.

Even with a 7.50 and storage box on the original roof rack it's not much higher than the roof

Thanks Gordon,
That fits with my thinking.
Now to get it moving...
