Greetings,
I could have an unused Paddocks refurbished gearbox off a friend that's been sitting in his shed for 20 years.
Obviously, he'd like to recover his initial outlay.
Hence, has anyone got experience with Paddocks refurbished gearboxes from the early 2000s?
They could have had access to good parts. Likewise they could just have used cheap bits (originally they had offered a 6-months warranty). Maybe it wasn't even done in-house? It's an E-suffix 2a box.
I plan to refurbish the original one, but I need to keep the car mobile and a good spare is always useful.
Any input is appreciated.
Cheers
Boris

Cant help with knowledge of Paddocks reconditioning but is a suffix E gearbox one of the few all synchro 2A boxes?

Were all Suffix E S2a boxes full synchro?

I'm just repairing one originally from a 6 pot, 34311454 Suffix E, which only has synchro on 3rd & 4th, though I suppose it could have had work done in the past and been rebuilt as an earlier suffix   ???

From memory, suffix E boxes are around 1967 so on synchro on 3 and top
The old days are the old days only because there're gone and won't be back.

Confirmed - only the very last ones were all syncro. Not suffux E.

I can't comment on Paddocks reconditioning service from 20 years ago, but I think it all depends on who did the job for them. I wasn't aware they did them in those days. I suspect they may have just bought some surplus recon stock rather than getting it done themselves, but stand to be corrected.
