Would my 1970 series 2a 109 ex military have light guards and rear bumperettes or D handles, any info much appreciated, thanks

diffwhine

Probably rear bumperettes, but I doubt if it would have had light guards.

I think I probably should have looked first but maybe rear grab handles as going by the holes and picture????

diffwhine

It may depend on whether your one would have had a square military crossmember fitted originally. I know all the Series 3 military vehicles had square crossmembers, but I don't believe all the 2As did. Anybody able to advise?

Has your rear crossmember been replaced? Is it the original chassis?

I'd check to see if a new rear crossmember as been welded on.

not uncommon at all, people stuck on whatever was available. my civilian 2A 88" station wagon was owned by an RAF pilot in the 70s and 80s, so when the original rotted away, you can guess what he stuck on...

I believe the cross member got replaced to a civilian one , I will try and post pictures, original chassis

Here it is, obviously wrong lights, don't think it's welded on, would this be the wrong rear crossmember for a 1970 109 ex military

109+1

That's a civilian cross member

Bigdog

So probably better leaving it as is

diffwhine

Exactly - just fit a couple of grab handles and carry on!
