Hello,

I'm looking to replace the seats on my 68 2a and would like to go as 'period correct' as possible. It was first registered in May 68. Would these have been elephant hide and were 'de luxe' seats even a thing back then?

Thanks

Brendan

So you got it back in one piece then!

According to the S2C timeline, the elephant hide seats changed to black in October 1968, so if correct, yours should be elephant hide grey.
As far as I am aware, deluxe seats were more of a Series 3 thing, but might be wrong.

I did indeed, and what an adventure it was! Great to meet you and thanks for your help.

Thanks on the seat advice also!

I've never seen an elephant hide "deluxe" seat. If ever there was a misnomer, "deluxe" in this case is it...

Exmoor Trim do a good replica set and I note after our visit there this week, that there are some thoughts of moving towards a marine ply backing rather than MDF for Series seats.

That's good news, perhaps they should be sent a pic of my DIY bases😇
