Now I know it's not a S2, but even so! I couldn't believe my eyes when ol' Huey went trundling past me earlier with a Range Rover minder! Followed them to a S1 specialist in Southam where they met up with another early S1 and then carried on their way. So lovely to see it out and about!

It was on its way to Warwick Racecourse where it met with a contingent of the series 2 club to celebrate 'From Farmyard to Frontline'

They met up with CKD shops lovely 49 and then trundled over to the racecourse.

The series 2 club managed a superb display of 10 vehicles, with huge variety including an RAF Marshall Ambulance, Fire Engine, Pink Panther, and a Homalloy tipper.

I didn't see this event advertised on the forum  ???

Well done Andy Parker for organising our presence along with Gaydon and it is good to see teh S2 prototype in front of our stall.

I wish they'd hold an event like that over here in the East!

On the subject of HUE, having been looking at it for at least 40 years, I've always thought that the paint job on it (and other restorations) is too glossy. Was it that glossy from the factory?
People have been arguing about this for decades, so feel free to disagree!😝

Also, every unrestored 80" I've seen over the years, has the canvas flap on the door, mounted on the outside so that when moving the airflow will be closing it, rather than opening it.

The tipper on the s2 stand looks a handy bit of kit, does the owner use the forum?

He doesn't unfortunately
The old days are the old days only because there're gone and won't be back.

Are there any other pictures of the tipper twomokes?

Regarding the original hue post/pic, is the body beneath, mending checking or just curious?

I suppose it would have been a gloss coat from new, but was a gloss coat then as shiny as a quality paint job these days?

Your point about the flap is very true. I always thought they were externally mounted and this advert from 1950 appears to confirm  it. Is it possible that JLR CLassic have got it wrong on such an iconic vehicle? Seems strange to me.

Two more pictures of the tippet from Moreton Show last month.

It's a homalloy tipper, one of only a handful made. There was a magazine article all about it a year or two back, I've asked thr owner which magazine it was

Thanks, so its a 109, which I could not determine from the original pic.

I knew a chap who fitted a none tipping box of similar height to an 88, for what ever reason he used 1/4 steel plate, it took two burly or three standard people to drop the full width tailgate.

It was a mid 60's petrol 88, he repainted it orange not dissimilar to g4 colour.

Without straying back in to tractor talk my eyes darted to the 10 series fords in the back of shot and the nearly out of sight county or TW.
