Electric Fuel Pump
« on: May 31, 2022, 06:05:10 PM »

Have been having issues recently with my electric fuel pump. Normally i'd start checking the earthing to the chassis as it's bolted to the outrigger. However all seemed good and it seemed to get power to it but not pump. So checked all filters pulled it apart etc, pulled fuel line of carbourettor to check any fuel there and still nothing. It's connected from battery to the pump through a relay, because it's also connected to the tracker. I had power coming out of the relay. I run a cable straight from the battery to it and it was working constantly. So deduced the relay has gone. Emailed the company the tracker came from over the weekend to find out what type the relay was, because i couldnt work it out. They got back to me yesterday morning asked for my address and popped one in the post free of charge. Its working all fine now. Thats what i call great service by the company Defender Defender.

Hi,

Slight variation on the theme

I spent 1961 on a desert staging post, just a few miles from Dubia (when Dubai was a little fishing village). I had face to face dealings with two Sheiks, and a scrap 5 ton Coles crane that the bought from the RAF to build the new power station ... at that time when the Sheik turned the palace lights on , the village went dim.  I was in at the beginning!

To while away the rest of the time, I wrote to both Fords and Jaguar, in UK, saying that I wished to spend the empty hours (we worked from 06.00hrs to 13.00hrs) and I would be grateful if they could send me some literature that would explain how an automatic gearbox worked. You can't beat a begging letter.

Both Ford and Jaguar sent me their Borg Warner workshop manuals. both FOC. Jaguars came airmail .... with £25 worth of stamps. I shudder to think what the posh manual should have cost.
