The Northern Gathering is taking place this summer as a joint camping social with the Series One Club ( see Mark Strangways' post on Series One Club page) and we'd like to invite you all to join the 65th and 75th Anniversary celebrations in Yorkshire.
Camping opens at Ripon Racecourse from 10am Thursday at just £10 per pitch per night ( cash payment on arrival) and is available until 11am Monday.
Jervaulx Abbey will be the venue for a road run and mid-morning 'Picnic in the Park' on Friday, with their award winning sausage rolls, quiches and cakes available to pre-order and collect on the day.
And back at the racecourse there will be a Mini-War on Friday afternoon!
Make a team of 3 vehicle- 6 people, invent a team name and take part in the point-based war tasks. Mental skills, good team communication, agility and some gentle equipment may be required. Points awarded and deducted for ingenuity and accuracy on tasks; and at the judge's discretion for good teamplay (bribery of judges may be attempted).
Saturday is green laning day, there are plenty of gentle or demanding green lane to drive, historic villages to visit, scenery to take your breath away and tea rooms in abundance.
Join us for a 'Bring a Plate for the Table' buffet, birthday celebration cakes and 'War' results on Saturday evening under the pergola. The fire pit will be crackling, two barrels of Shadow Bridge beer with an honesty box and a bar snack basket will be available.
The boring bits are as follows:
Dogs on leads at all times (breeding season for birds on waterside)
Fires in above ground containers (extinguished before bed)
No access to horse racing track.
I will post up prices for Jervaulx picnic items and take orders closer to the event. You can save a pitch in advance if you'd like and announce your War team name by posting HERE or email:
