DVLA Reaction times ?
« on: July 26, 2021, 03:49:54 PM »

Anyone have an idea how long DVLA are taking to make changes to V5s at the moment ?   I sent one off for amendment a month ago and have had no response, while they did the "change of ownership" on one I sold recently within days...

Thanks !

Gene.

Same with me, we did a change of ownership with a family car and got the new V5C back in 2 weeks. It was posted June 29th and came back last week.

The FBHVC is assisting the DVLA with classic vehicle queries to speed things up a bit.

Paper applications are taking a considerable time at the moment.

The federations help will not speed up the issuing of V5s

Ther are problems at DVLA with a lot of workers still working from home plus strikes over the problems of distancing in the office plus the increased activity during COVId.

The Frderation help is specific to historic vehicle problems rather tha run of the mill issues.

I did an electronic/on line change of ownership on two vehicles about two months ago.  The whole process took less that 48 hours.

You'll be aware of this one Peter, the request to change an errant "Z" to a 2..... I suppose its been wrong since it was registered in 1984 so a few more weeks don't matter :-)

Gene, that will require some thought and so will take more time.

Hi all. I insured my Landy and registered for historic at a local PO, they said they would be sending the log book off the next day to the DVLA. This was May 5th. Log book received back Friday 23rd July (all correct thankfully). To put it mildly I was getting just a little concerned! Don't give up hope.

They tell you to get a new driving licence in advance of reaching 70.

Done on 3rd June. Nothing received back.

However, I think that I am still driving legally, because they know how inefficient they are - and said somewhere that if you've sent it, it would be OK to keep driving.

The closure of all the local Licensing Offices has clearly been the great success we all anticipated! >:D

It took 7 months and the intervention to get mine sorted when i turned 70 last year.  The form does sy that ypou can continue driving if you have sent it off.

6 7 weeks and counting for my V5C

-- although I got a bonus as they returned the £25 cheque with a covering letter saying that the fee was waived because I had also included the new owners part of the last issued registration document

Hi,

I used to received five FULL filing cabinets of Driver applications every day. Most cleared within three working days, just a few left after five working days.

I was once chastised by Policy Branch because three batches (each of 100 documents) were still not cleared after eleven days.

We did try, very hard.

Once they cleared me, each document was treated individually.

One problem that I kept emphasising (and eventually got through to the bosses) that one error in a batch of 100 documents, was one percent. But for Joe Public, it was a 100% failure for 100 customers.
