I bet most of the twin carb setups on minis and the like were out of sync.  That was one of the main reasons I went to single carb and like Alan I used a water heated manifold from miniskirt in Padiham who are still going after all this time

Miniskirt? That sounds a different way of tuning. Lol.
HIF had the concentric float bowl below the carb so less issues with than the float bowl on the SU. Still needed to mess with needles before getting Aldon to rolling road it.

Ah, the old days.  They don't make them like that any more!

I dunno about a twin carb setup on a 2 1/4, but I'd really love to try a single keihin FCR-mx in 40 or 41mm flavour. It's really the ultimate evolution of a carb. Easily the most tuneable thing in the land. Used ones are not a fortune either.

It occurs to me, a few of you are missing the whole point? The very ethos and spirit of owning a classic car. Fun

Twins are best because... they just are. Twin SUs are THINGS of beauty, a joy forever. They are an item to denote your good taste and breeding. Own them and walk head held high, a giant amongst men.

Fit them and women drag you out at lights, beg for sex.

Some of us appear to be saying the A-Series scene we see here would be bettered with a single SU? Or,  oh dear... heaven-help us, more Zeniths. Sorry, for me, the man and his pic brings a smile. He could drive a Prius. Does he care? Nope.

The whole point of owning a classic is for fun. Life should be fun. My first post was to give one lucky contestant the opportunity to put a set of twin SUs on his 2.25. And while you're on...  transcend logic, and have a quiet, 'just because' smirk and a little bit of joy at the notion of twin SUs on your 2.25?
'cos, every time you lift the bonnet, see them in great glory. Knowing full well there's no good reason for them to exist and you prefer it that way.

Good. As said, if I had a set-up that could run them, I'd have them myself. Please, someone get 'em bought pronto - and promise you'll post pics of them nailed-in.

To be fair, my Westfield has twin 40s Webers and it looks right with the old school crossflow. I suppose it matters little as long as they are set up properly.
