Agreed Value

Good evening, I am wondering whether someone is able to help me with my attempts to get an agreed value with Adrian Flux. I have sent them a document which includes photos of my progress with my Land Rover - from purchase, through the strip down - to the rebuild. It showed the extent of the work. Now they are wanting me to send them a list of the work with prices. Since most of the work was either done by me or my friend, whilst I can list the work that has been done, with vague date periods of the work, remembering any costs is hopeless. Before I despair, does anyone know what level of detail I may need, as it seems contacting AF returns more requests or a lack of clarity.

Thanks

James

I insure with Flux and although I never seek an Agreed Value, their AV forms surely just ask for photos rather than a list of invoices?

Or are you seeking a value well in excess of their usual expectation? They do insure a lot of Land Rovers, so should know what to expect.

I thought that the best / only way to have a really good Agreed Value which any Insurance Company could not argue with is to have the vehicle inspected and valuation by a respected Classic Car / Land Rover Series Valuer.

The Best Land Rover Valuer I have hear of is Julian Shoolheifer he is on Facebook or [email protected]
Or you could try Mark Griffiths <[email protected]> at Land Rover Centre, Huddersfield

However even with a good respected valuation, even with out huge Labours costs if genuine New Old Stock rare parts are used, I would not be surprised if the valuation is less than the rebuild / cost of pasts.

The AV form asked for photos which I provided and then a document which included photos of the process. I wasn't aware that I was asking for in excess of what they were expecting. I suppose the easiest next step would be to ask what they were expecting me to say. I think I said 20K, which is what I thought was reasonable.

Thanks

I use the Hagerty tool with Flux, third party - can't dispute it.

Do you mean you say that is the value and refer to the link or ? Being a 2L diesel they may contest that.

Thank you though

I've got my Series 3 insured with Peter Best and have just renewed it. Agreed valuation by photos and details of what had been done all supplied by me. It's undervalued in the respect of the work carried out and the mainly genuine parts fitted but those don't count in market forces.
Looking at prices in LRM I think it's about right. It's not perfect with Defender doors and a 2.5 petrol engine, not for the rivet counters at all.

I give them a link to the tool, then justify why mine is more/less than Hagerty say. It's a guide - a starting point.

A 1958 S2 2l middle range is £16200, justify if yours is more or less than that.

I was with Adrian Flux who gave me an agreed value without too much difficulty but I have since moved to Footman James who accepted the agreed value without any need for evidence!

If they are really asking for market value, as opposed to replacement cost to the same standard as you have used, then it's got nothing to do with what work you have done or even its quality. You don't need to be a Landrover expert to market value something - just a canny salesman or a car auctioneer.

Estate agents don't really value houses, they just have a guess at what they could flog them for.
The true replacement valuation of an old house or an old car can easily exceed its market value.

Likewise with footman james, agreed value without need for photographic evidence two years running.
