Very convenient how the correct brand new bulkhead turned up in the correct shade of green for £700!
The fake "patina" absolutely ruined what looked to be a reasonable vehicle. What is it with this patina fad?

Agree about the fake patina.

What was he playing at? It had a full paper history, and original paint. 40,000 miles. Could just flog it with that?

Alan Drover

I wonder if the other "restorations" in the series were just as bad. I thought he would have known better.
I wouldn't want him anywhere near my Land Rover after that fiasco.

I think I've watched them all, this was the only one he made a profit on.

Got to agree re the fake patina. I just don't get it🤷♂️. It had nice looking original paint so why not just let it wear it. The sanding of good paint added nothing to it in my opinion. As for the bulkhead for £700, really? I wish I could get one for that price. I've watched some of his restoration shows before and quite enjoyed them, but this wasn't great as it showed barely any of the process.

Cheers Alan you've saved me some pain

If he hadn't vandalized a very reasonable station wagon he would've probably made a bigger profit. Who would want such a rat assed vehicle that looks like it's travelled long arduous distances when they could've had one with what appeared to be good paint and bodywork?
I wonder if the new owner will restore the paintwork.

Well I was sat on the sofa today idling away a few hours and the Ant Anstead show came onto the TV without me even selecting the channel - hmm maybe I was meant to watch it ?
Never seen this show before so it was an experience to say the least and frankly offensive to my senses.
I stuck it out until they showed the Lan Rover and then that was it !
I couldn't stick any more and switched the telly onto another channel.
Not a fan of the show format and Mr Anstead grates on me hugely.

Have to say " Respect " to anyone who has the strength of character to watch the show from beginning to end and if you are able to watch all episodes in the series .. well I'm speechless !

Alan Drover

I watched it out of pure curiosity. I wasn't expecting much at all and my predictions were spot on.

Haven't seen the Land Rover one yet but I did see the Alfa one over the weekend.

They arrive at a garage where an Alfasud has been parked up for the past 30 years, they get it rolling, push it outside and it comes out on brand new, fully inflated Pirelli Tyres. Now, call me suspicions, but....

As others have hinted at, makes for good TV for the masses but not much else...

This series was particularly annoying - we were asked to buy into the idea that this £100k Range Rover driving partner of one of the most successful Hollywood actresses of the last 30 years was relying on the make-or-break profits from car restorations to fund the renovation of a cottage for his parents. Surprise surprise, the house renovation was completed despite the car restorations not generating any meaningful money. More fake jeopardy than almost any other car restoration series I can remember.

I enjoyed some of the car stuff, but I find Ant a hard watch sometimes. Edd, Elvis and Fuzz seem a lot more normal/down to earth/relateable somehow.

Oh yes, I did mention that to my other half, Sell the horrible matt finish Range Rover and that Defender thing he drives around and he'd have plenty of spare cash to finish the house!

It just serves to show how desperate TV programmers are for ideas. Wheeler Dealers is bearable but you have to take it with a huge pinch of salt.

We live in a reality TV world. Nothing is real, nothing is true.

There are better - informative vids on YouTube about fixing or restoring cars.

Remembering what's on TV is supposed to be "entertainment'  :shakinghead

We in the classic car world can see what's wrong - transpose this across to other subjects and topics shown on TV and you have to assume it's all "make believe" to fit into the programming schedules and satisfy the advertisers.

Still think Ed China is the best  :gold-cup

Agree. There's "entertainment" and "proper entertainment" though and looking through the crap of '"celebrity" themed quiz shows and sundry other rubbish on from Monday 23rd December until the New Year, I can see neither. A great number of this rubbish is repeats too just to rub it in!!
