I'll try and photograph my engine mounts today but the chassis mounts weren't modified.

I had to move the mount forward on the block when I fitted mine into the S1 chassis. From memory there are two sets of tapped holes in the block. I also used a wedge on the offside mount but I think you'll already have that from the 2 1/4.

Here are my engine mounts which are Series 3.
Photo 1 is the left hand and 2 is the right.
As for the carburettor adapter if presumably you've already got a Zenith on your existing engine use that with its adapter and use your existing distributor and see how it runs. You can always get it converted to suit the 2.5 by the Distributor Doctor. I was lucky and got a scrap correct distributor which the Doctor rebuilt and a spare from a mate. It's not for sale.
Just above the alternator on my engine are 2 tapped holes, no idea what they're for.

Just had a thought. The 2 tapped holes above the alternator could be for the fan cowling fitted to the engine in its original vehicle.

Thankyou Alan, that makes it alot easier.
As I'm swapping out a 300tdi and the 17H didn't come with a carb or distributor these will have to be sourced.

Alan Drover

I haven't located the adapter yet but will keep looking.

KingFishMDT could you post a photo of the top hose on your 300Tdi?

Here you go

With the high turbo that seems to be a proper defender engine.

Here's the set up with my top hose which has the same housing as your 2.5 petrol engine. As you see your hoses as they are won't fit and the standard 2.5 thermostat housing points towards the right. You'll have to be creative with it or change the radiator.
As regarding the carburettor set up you'll need the adapter 574749. I have a spare one but it has a hole for a breather and you'll need a plug to seal it.
PM if you're interested. I see the liner in the manifold is there which is necessary for a Zenith carburettor.

Thankyou Alan, the wife has helpfully (not) given a list of jobs for me to get finished before I can start on the swap!

Will message you once I'm there.

Alan Drover

This is the adapter. I don't have anything to plug the breather hole. The breather on mine is in the elbow on top of the carburettor. The gasket iss for the manifold side I don't have one for the carburettor side.
I'm willing to hang on to it until you're ready to decide.
