Is this the plate I would need suitable for fitting my nato hitch on a military rear crossmember, thanks

Bigdog

This is what is on it just now but obviously I am changing it, thanks

diffwhine

I think you will find that it will position the NATO hitch too low. That configuration will put the hitch mount point well below the rear cross member when the NATO hitch is supposed to be pointed on the military crossmember itself. The getaround could be to fit a Dixon Bate type slider assembly.

Do you think I would need anything, could i just fix the nato hitch on to what's there

Twomokes

The images attached show the correct plate you need to fix a NATO hitch to a cilivan crossmember. The fixing plate is part no. 551884 and adaptor plate/stifferner which goes on the reverse of the crossmember is listed in series catalogues as 245599 and in the One Ten catalogue as NRC8323, the one in the photos is later number and it fits my chassis without any modifications

I made this set up for my S3 Daily.
A towing eye can be slotted in, or the bike carrier I made.
Ignore the sticker the kids thought it would be funny to add.

That looks like a Greeves from the front suspension. Villiers engine definitely.

This is the closest I can find for sale, would these do

Alan Drover

I use a Dixon Bate adjustable hitch with 2 sliders, 1 with a NATO hitch, the other with a 50mm ball hitch

Sorr Diffwhine just noticed you also mentioned the bates slider 👍

I'll take a photo of my set up tomorrow. I always carry the sliders in the Land Rover just in case.
