Filled the main gearbox with new oil!

So that's the overdrive done, the transfer box, new oil filter and engine oil. New fluids all around!

Tonights 30-minute caper means I can have it back on the road for Thanksgiving and the obligatory drive with the family to take the dog to the beach on Thanksgiving morning.

No such thing as too much turkey and apple pie!

nice job. 30 minutes, especially in cold weather, is really fast! what's the secret? or do you have the old-style top-filler hatch?

For the o/drive and transfer I just fill through the top plates but for the gearbox, i use a pressure vessel that you would find in any garden center or hardware store.  This is the exact model I use.

I have removed the 'spray/jet' nozzle on the end of the pipe.  I put the measured quantity of oil in the pressure vessel, put the end of the pipe into the gearbox filler hole and tape down the trigger on the handle.  Pump it up and walk away for 15 minutes! We have colder weather here now so I kept the oil in my house for a couple of days and the pressure vessel too. It's clean and efficient. I saw a blog posting from an Indian guy living in Singapore some years ago and this was his technique for his Series 2 Landy. Gotta love the global community of these vehicles!

The petrol leaf blower/vac shredder refused to rev when I tried it so after a quick check of the air filter it went into the Land Rover to the local garden machinery centre.
In its defence it's 20 years old, always started and has never been serviced.
Series 3 Owner but interested in all real Land Rovers.

My tin of undercoat arrived yesterday so with the addition of P.P.A. flow additive for the cold weather I brushed and rolled a second coat onto the 88's o/s wing front.

I scrambled underneath to put the front prop on and put a little 4mm neoprene under the transmission tunnel cover.

Ever so slowly getting closer to running again. The Christmas Pudding run would be nice to achieve.

The fiddling continues😂. I've rust treated the cleaned up rear prop and it's ready for paint. Cleaned and painted the handbrake backing plate. Rust treated the front door hinges and primed them ready for paint. Also removed the transfer box sump cover ready for a clean up and re seal.There was a little muck/crud in the oil remnants on the sump cover but no metal filings. To my untrained eye the transfer gears all look pretty good. All that has resulted in the inevitable ordering of parts to replace seals, broken bolts, seized studs etc😂😂. Enjoying the process so far.

Massively shortened the spring holding the wiper against the windscreen. Before it was only exerting 500g at the centre of the blade. Now it's 1000g.
Also crimped up the clamps that hold the blade rubber to stop it leaning quite so much when being drawn across the glass.
And adjusted the handbrake because some recent photo-ops demonstrated it wasn't working so well. To be fair, one was at the top of the steepest hill in the UK in Harlech, so switching off the engine and putting in gear is sensible anyway.
