I made new rubber and sponge gaskets for my rear Imp lights and soldered a new grain of wheat bulb to my direction indicator switch. Then I moved on to tracing a feed from the fuse to the fuel gauge.

Lost my bearings a couple of times, but job's a goodun.👍

Yesterday was something of a watershed. I got the brake lights, wipers and fuel gauge working, the last of the outstanding circuits, so my last job is a clean out of the dizzy before starting my 88 and see it move again under it's own power five years, five months and a day after it last ran.

I went to the Wallop Gathering. There were a Series 1, another Series 3 and an immaculate suffix C 2A SWB Station Wagon on one of the jumble sale stalls. I tried a recruitment drive but I think my efforts fell on deaf ears.
Due to local politics by the Parish Council this was the last Gathering unless a new venue can be found.
Series 3 Owner but interested in all real Land Rovers.

Going backwards. What was 2 weeks away from driveable now waiting for a bulkhead without problems. All cables had to have connectors cut off to get them back through the bulkhead and hydraulic systems broken. Some parts now need refurbishment others must be replaced.
A bit cheesed off at the moment and a local farmer has  just chucked slurry over the field next to us and upwind. It's a sunny bank holiday in Cornwall so we can't go anywhere and we're trapped in the house with all doors and windows shut. Even then the stench is all through the house, it's indescribable.
Oh well look towards better days.

I pulled out all the parts I've squirrelled away for my SW rebuild. I sorted them into parts actually going to be used on the rebuild, parts to be kept as spares and parts I need to get shot of. I have a great deal of nice shiny bits to fit into my rebuild and many in LR or Rover original packaging. I found a complete clutch cross shaft assembly all brand new and ready to fit - dead chuffed!

One question - I know this has come up before. I found 3 different lengths of clutch slave pushrods. Anybody know how to identify which one fits which clutch system as none have any part numbers on them?

I spent about five hours pulling apart the standard front door mats and re-threading them to make one custom for the driver's footwell. I'm pleased with the result. Having cleaned the dizzy and primed the pump the engine fired on the third attempt and ran as well as I remembered five years ago. Instantaneous starting subsequently. I had a little potter forward out of the shed and for some reason couldn't get high range. There'll be no drama, just a weird thing to find. It selected fine before.

Check the 4WD lever bracket is fitted to the correct side of bell housing rib.
