I have spacers in mine between the bracket and the gearbox (as per original I assume as like this in the parts book and as fitted before disassembly), but the bolt (that was the same as the one I took out) was fouling the full forward position everso slightly. Packed it with a washer on the bolt head side and all fine.

Spent the evening popping in my new Frankenstein speedo, I needed to get to 1123 tpm, I found a Riley speedo that was 1120, but the face was the bigger jaeger one... anyway, tin snips and paint sorted that problem, then I stuck the lot in a s3 housing that needed a bit of modifying... and it's all good. Quite good fun.

I refuelled it today. Nothing unusual in that but it's the first refill since fitting the new fuel gauge sender unit and I wondered (hoped) whether the seal between the tank and sender unit was leak proof so when I refuelled I removed the seat and tank cover to check.
All ok. I always fill right to the top of the fuel filler.

Took more of the steering apart, looked at the wheels and pondered alternatives on the forum and hopefully bought a proper split military tailgate, which was on my to get list.

Put my spare engine in the rear of my 109, ready for transport to our new home! A bit of logistics to do now.
1.Load crane and stand into my L663 Defender.
2. Drive to new house to drop off crane and stand.
3. Return to swap vehicles and take engine to new home.
4. Unload it and fit to stand.

Hopefully I'll get around to fitting into the 109 later this year.

Thanks RATA, mine has the thicker housing, therefore no spacers, but I had put the bracket to the rear rather than the front.

While looking for a missing bolt (which I found) I discovered in the garage a cigarette lighter socket with a fused wiring harness attached. The connections fitted the socket in the Land Rover so I wired it to the voltmeter. It works only with the ignition on but that's fine.
Now, are USB sockets available that fit into the old style cigarette lighter socket?

Yes.
Pretty much available anywhere, Halford, ebay, Amazon etc.
1,2,3 & 4 USB ports.

Had to replace the seal in the front output of the transfer box. Following a tip on this forum, got a speedisleeve, which fitted the shaft perfectly

I was so pleased, I may have a look at my spare steering relay and find a speedisleeve to fit that.

Out with the Lanoguard this morning. Nice quick and easy. Now I smell like an old ewe and won't rust for a while...

I did the cavities and chassis rails with Dinitrol ML, but for external easy to get to stuff, the Lanoguard takes some beating.
